The Privia PX100 by Casio is an ideal piano when you want the feel and sound of an acoustic piano, but don't have the room or loads of money to spend. It's quite compact and weighs less than 28 lbs., so you can easily move it out of the way when you're not using it. Or if you'd like to leave it set up, the attractive CS-55P optional stand turns the PX100 into a console-style piano with a warm contemporary look.
You'd think that with a price this affordable that Casio would cut corners, but the opposite is true. The Natural Scaled Hammer Action features 88 keys with response similar to an acoustic instrument. Sound is generated by Casio's HL Dual-Elements Sound Chip, with separate samples for light and heavy touch, so when you make dynamic changes the timbre accurately reflects the force of your playing. Eight keyboard sounds plus two bass tones can be accompanied if you wish by any of 20 rhythm/accompaniment patterns, with 10 specially tailored to piano styles. Dual headphone jacks also serve as line out jacks. A two-track song sequencer offers a capacity of 5,200 notes, and MIDI In and Out connections allow hookup to other devices including computers for pattern recording and more. 30 demo tunes let you knock out the left- or right-hand part so you can play along. One pedal is provided (for sustain function,) and you can add a second pedal for Soft function.
